Assessing Store Shrinkage: An Analysis of Correlates to Retail Merchandising Loss Events
The research detailed in this brief analyzes the determinability of shrinkage when comparing Store location: Within a Mall versus Not within a Mall (free-standing buildings). The appropriateness of risk scores and assumptions made about a location based on its surroundings is brought to question in a mall setting, where the mall may serve as a unique ecosystem, and be less affected by its immediate surroundings than other comparable retail locations.
