The INNOVATE research lab building on the campus of the University of Florida is the central hub of the Loss Prevention Research Council’s mission to prevent and detect theft, fraud, and violence. Our state-of-the-art, multifunctional facilities provide a unique setting for our members to see the latest retail security solutions in action.
Research and Development
LPRC’s ongoing lab research offers a collaborative, real-world environment for developing, testing, and improving more advanced solutions that address the challenges of asset protection.
Education and Training
Through our lab facilities, we’re able to offer hands-on training programs and workshops for loss prevention professionals. These opportunities equip our members with practical knowledge and skills that can help them implement more effective loss-prevention strategies in their stores and across the supply chain.
Collaboration and Innovation
Security Operations Control (SOC)
We monitor and analyze security data from sources within the retail environment, such as CCTV footage, point-of-sale systems, and access control systems. Our team also tests and evaluates solutions like intrusion detection systems, video analytics, and fraud detection software.
This dynamic workshop is where we transform ideas, simulations, and virtual components into reality. LPRC provides the tools & technology to build, destroy, and everything in between.
Parking Lot Lab
This real-world environment in one of our on-campus parking lots provides the perfect testing ground for a variety of security technology, video, and detection systems.
Here, we can rapidly prototype a solution in a controlled virtual and augmented reality environment. Full digital immersion provides unparalleled insight while moving through the five zones of influence.
Our Engagement Lab is a state-of-the-art mock-store lab, featuring more than 200 hundred of the latest technologies for combating theft, fraud, and violence.
This is the first step in LPRC’s strategic innovation process. The Ideation Lab provides an adaptable space to encourage creativity and empathy for the specific needs of your challenges. We work hard to unlock the potential of your ideas through design thinking.
Retail Security Solutions Showcase
We showcase the latest loss prevention technologies at our Gainesville labs, from electronic article surveillance (EAS) systems to video analytics solutions. Retailers can explore, participate, ask questions, and evaluate potential retail security solutions for their specific asset protection challenges.
