With IMPACT 2019 quickly approaching, first-time attendees might be wondering what to expect at the industry’s fastest-growing conference. What type of content is being presented? Who exactly is speaking? Should you bring your favorite football jersey to the end-of-the-day tailgate at the top of the Gator’s football stadium? We say go for it (as long as your colors are orange and blue, that is). But what you should really prepare for is a jampacked two-day event designed to give you unmatched insight into current trends in retail, LP/AP, technology, and much more.
Here are a few tips from the Loss Prevention Research Council team — as well as some friendly advice from other IMPACT veterans — on preparing for LPRC’s biggest annual event:
Register for IMPACT 2019 – the earlier the better!
Make sure to register before you arrive so you can get your name badge as soon as possible. It’s simple — click here and fill out any relevant information. It won’t take you more than a minute!
Register for the Annual Golf Outing
Start your conference experience on the green! Don’t forget to register for the Annual Golf Outing ahead of time — this process is completely separate from the conference registration so don’t forget to do both.
View the agenda – find the right sessions for you
Which breakout sessions should you attend? When is the guest speaker presenting? When is the cocktail hour in the solution center experience happening? All important questions that you can answer by viewing our agenda. Click here!
Book your travels & lodging
Don’t wait until the last minute to book your travels and hotels! You can see our recommended list of hotels and airports here.
Download our event app
We will release our conference app on both Apple & Android phones on Tuesday, September 24. This will allow you to easily view our agenda, speakers, attendees, surveys, Mad Scientist challenges for points towards prizes, and much more. Be on the lookout for an email with more information and link to the app.
Print out your Parking Pass
You will receive an email this week with your parking pass for the conference. Please print this pass out prior to your arrival to leave on your dashboard at the venue. We recommend carpooling or using UBER/Lyft due to limited parking space at the Reitz Union venue.

Check-In at the Research Lab Reception to Collect Your Name Badge In Advance
If you like heavy h’orderves and local beers, you won’t want to miss out on our opening reception. This will be your first touch-point at our conference, and it’s the perfect opportunity to learn more from our research scientists, network with other industry professionals, catch up with your colleagues, and much more. We will also be hosting a tour of our new NextRetail Research Center facility, so mark your calendars and prepare for IMPACT 2019. We can’t wait to see you there!
To wrap up our guide, we asked some of our members what advice they would give to new attendees. Here is what they had to say:
“IMPACT 2019 will give the attendee the opportunity to hear from not only industry experts in the fields of criminal scientific research, but you will also have the experience of hearing from retail industry leaders, like yourself, about what struggles they are facing and how they implemented strategies to combat the problem. Whether it is product protection, organized retail crime, retail fraud or supply chain fraud, the IMPACT conference will allow you to engage with and hear from peers in the industry on what they are facing in today’s environment.”
Kevin Larson, Kroger
“To get the most out of IMPACT make sure to preview the Learning Lab content and plan your attendance. Map out your sessions and ensure you make time to attend the Solution Center Experience.”
